"The time has come to unite the personal and intuitive aspects of obstetrics with medical science. I invite you to join with me and many other spiritual birthing advocates in creating needed changes in the medical community. It is you, the parents, who are the true force in change." Ronald L. Cole, M.D. Enlightened Birth Advocate Author of The Gentle Greeting |

Dr. Ronald L. Cole is a pioneer in the field of applying spiritual principles to childbirth. While acknowledging the importance of advances in the modern practice of obstetrics, he has also invested years of research in a non-physical, holistic, and spiritual approach to pregnancy, from conception to delivery. Through many years of assisting new life into this world, his abiding interest, research and association with such birth advocacy groups as Lamaze International, International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), and the Association of Pre- and Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH) kept pace with his medical practice years ago. He was among the first to begin stressing the importance of spiritual (not to be confused with religious) aspects of childbirth that engage the mind and soul as well as the body. "The practice of good obstetrics and gynecology is important. However, the core factor in a good birth outcome is a positive, loving atmosphere around the conception and pregnancy. These alternative methods for gentler childbirth are only starting to be taught in medical schools and residency programs." |
